There is a little known secret to those wanting to quit smoking.  If only someone would have shared this with me 20 years ago I wouldn't have wasted all that time and money smoking cigarettes.  The fact is that nicotine leaves your body very rapidly as long as you don't put more nicotine in.  In fact if you stop smoking or taking any kind of nicotine for 72 hours, your body will be nicotine free.  In the most simple terms, that means that you will have removed the chemical that you have been addicted to for 10, 20, 30 years.

Here is my challenge to you.  To all of those people who are considering quitting smoking but do not know where or how to start.  Start tomorrow, and don't smoke a cigarette, chew tobacco, use a patch or any other nicotine replacement therapy for 72 hours. 

Once you make it 72 hours without a cigarette you will be able to make a conscious decision about whether or not you want to place that poison in your body any longer.  You will be thinking for yourself, as a non addict, for the first time in a very long time.  Up to now you  have not been able to think freely because nicotine has controlled your life.

Right now many of you believe that you enjoy smoking, that you gain something from lighting up a cigarette.  The reality is you gain nothing, you don't enjoy it, and if your mind wasn't clouded with chemicals you would realize it yourself.

There are so many reasons to quit smoking, but really no good reasons to continue.  Write your quit reasons down on a sheet of paper and read them at least once an hour during your waking hours.  Continually remind yourself why you are doing this.

  1. There really is no physical pain in quitting smoking.
  2. When you don't smoke a cigarette you really won't crave the next cigarette
  3. Quitting smoking is easy - and it only gets easier with every day you abstain.
  4. If you can stop smoking for 72 hours, imagine what you can accomplish in the other parts of your  life!!!!

There is a lot of misinformation in the world about quitting smoking, most of it perpetuated by the medical, pharmaceutical, and tobacco industries.    The fact is that the best way to quit smoking is to remove nicotine from your body.  In fact it is the only way to truly break free from the addiction.

The medical and pharmaceutical industry has made billions of dollars with products claiming to help smokers quit.  The patch, lozenge, gum, spray, etc. are all a means of putting nicotine into your body.  I have tried every one of these products and the only thing they do is continue the addiction to nicotine.  You would have to be incredibly strong to quit smoking by using these methods.  I'm not saying that they have never worked, but it is a much more difficult process than simply removing the nicotine from your body.

As I've said in previous posts, nicotine is removed from your body at a rapid rate, as long as you don't continue to smoke.  Within 3 days almost all nicotine will be removed from you body and you will no longer have the physical craves associated with addiction.

There are obvious reasons that pharmaceutical companies do not want you to quit smoking cold turkey.  And as always the bottom line is money.  Nobody makes any money off of those quitting cold turkey.  But if you use the patch or gum you will most likely become a slave to a new kind of nicotine delivery.  And when that fails you will revert back to smoking cigarettes which is what the tobacco companies real goal is.  Don't believe the propoganda that they are encouraging people to quit smoking by creating help programs.    They want nothing more than for you to be a slave to cigarettes the rest of your life, no matter how short that may be.

There is a lot of good information on the internet, but there is also a lot of bad advice.  Read everything and talk to others who have quit smoking.  If you do a survey you  will find that the vast majority were able to quit using the cold turkey method.

While we would all like a magic potion that would instantly rid us of this addiciton, the fact is there is no such thing.  But if you  understand how nicotine works in your body, you will easily be able say goodbye to this drug once and for all.

Here are the facts:

  1. Nicotine is addictive - the only way to cure the addiction is to remove the drug from your body
  2. Placing Nicotine in your body, in any form will only make you want more nicotine
  3. There are a lot of companies making a great deal of money off of your addiction - and the only way for them to continue making money is to keep you addicted
  4. The only person who can make you quit smoking is you!!!

WHY CAN'T I QUIT SMOKING

This is the most common question I hear from smokers who are trying to quit.  They feel that they are different than other smokers who have been able  to quit smoking.  The fact is we all feel the same way, because this drug has robbed us of our freedom, our self confidence, and if we are not careful it will rob us of our health.

Let's refresh an earlier lesson.  When you started smoking you created receptors in your brain that did not exist prior to your taking up smoking.  The sole purpose of these receptors is to crave nicotine.  They live on nicotine and need it to survive.  If you stop feeding them nicotine, eventually they will dry up and become non existent. 

Each time you smoke a cigarette it makes you want another cigarette.  Think about that the next time you light up.  If you didn't smoke that cigarette you would not want the next.  Each cigarette you don't smoke will bring you closer to your goal.  Slowly the receptors will wither and you will begin to realize life as a non smoker.  But you must kill the beast living in your brain.
